Thought Stopping is one of the cognitive-behavioral therapy methods that teach us to stop unwanted thoughts, excessive worrying, obsessions, and fear.
This is a concept that is in line with mindfulness. Many people thought that mindfulness is obtained when people sit and meditate, some might even think it is a hocus pocus.
Mindfulness is described as focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. — In our daily life, we often lose ourselves. When we are eating, we think about the tasks that need to be completed today, the bills that need to be paid by the end of the week, the thought of anger, fear, distress, etc.
Being mindful means that we bring our body and mind to the present. We stop our intrusive or negative thought. Being mindful means we are concentrating on what we are doing at this very moment. Learning to enjoy every bite of our breakfast, learning to enjoy every sip of our coffee, and enjoy each step when we are walking.
Being mindful means letting our brains rest and treat ourselves with tenderness and care. Being mindful means taking a break from our suffering, our worry, our always-on-the-go mentality. It’s okay to stop and doing exactly nothing.
Just 5 minutes a day. Have a mindful day ![]()
