Mental illness is defined as a mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that more than 50% U.S. population will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point of their life and nearly one in five U.S. adults experience mental illness. This number is likely to grow during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dealing with mental illness can be disheartening, you might feel like you have tried everything within your power to get better, yet you cannot seem to overcome your challenges. You might feel like you are alone or isolated and people do not understand your struggle. There are many conditions of mental illnesses and they can vary in the degree of severity, ranging from mild, moderate, to severe. It can affect people’s daily function, including personal and social life. Mental illness is one of the leading cause of sickness absence in the workplace. Stress and sleeping disorder are two of the most common triggers of mental illness.

Travel has been shown to improve physical and mental health. It exposes you to different environment and culture, lower your stress level, boost your creativity, and teach you to be flexible, adaptable, and resilient. Travel helps to get you out of your comfort zone and teach you an understanding about life.
My love for travel started since I was a little girl. Every holiday, my family took a vacation together and I cherished those memories until this day. During my travel, I always try the authentic local food instead of dining at famous chain restaurants. Meeting the local give me an authentic experience, practice new language, and making new friends.
